Why we support Help for Kids

It’s the time of year for reflecting on the past as we prepare for the year ahead.

At MMG Archbold we strive to help you, our clients, achieve your goals but it’s also important for us as a local business to support those in our community who are in need.

Our Director of Operations, Aileen Bollan explains why this matters to the business and to her personally:

“For the past four years MMG Archbold has supported Help For Kids. This is a Dundee based charity providing support for more than 2,000 disadvantaged children living in Dundee, Perth and surrounding areas.

“Many of us take the good things in life for granted, and as a mother and grandmother, I’m very aware that my loved ones have been fortunate enough to never feel deprived of either necessities or luxuries. Through our involvement with Help For Kids, I’ve been shocked and surprised to learn of the hardship suffered by thousands of our local children who are disadvantaged through poverty or illness. The challenges some of these wee ones face, through no fault of their own, is heart-breaking and we need to do all we can to help redress the balance.

Help For Kids arrange lots of fundraising events throughout the year and they’ve been exceptionally busy in 2017. We try to support the charity where we can and this year, as well as being the main sponsor of the highly successful Ladies Lunch, MMG Archbold also sponsored the golf day, the comedy lunch, the beer festival and the race night. Our colleagues donate toys at Christmas and eggs at Easter and we recently gave a donation to the book appeal. We’ve also helped the charity by supporting their appeal for bedding; the knowledge that children in our local area were sleeping with nothing to cover them struck a chord with our staff who donated duvets, quilt covers and pillows. Help For Kids has raised over £80,000 this year to support individuals, groups and organisations across the region.”

Help For Kids Charity Manager, Stacey Wallace added: “The support of the local business community is vital for our charity. The children we help are disadvantaged through social and economic circumstances or through health and disability. As Dundee and the surrounding area continues to flourish and develop through projects like the waterfront development and the Tay Cities Deal, it’s important that we don’t forget the more vulnerable members of our society. The support our charity receives from MMG Archbold is an important part of that and we hugely appreciate everything they do for us.”

Help For Kids will always hold a special place in our hearts and we look forward to continuing our support of the charity in 2018.
